Your successful business dealings, meetings and talks are decisive for the five days of the Frankfurt Book Fair. This year, the Frankfurt Book Fair takes place from 12-16 October. During this time, you can look forward to many new products and trends being presented and discussed. The work centres and forums at the Frankfurt Book Fair are the primary meeting places for trade visitors. The conferences and events are also an opportunity to exchange ideas with experts and make new business contacts. In order to be able to take advantage of the wide range of opportunities and identify the offers that are relevant to you, make sure to prepare well for your visit to the Frankfurt Book Fair.

In order to enter the Fair during the week, you have to register in advance as a trade visitor.

The weekdays of the Fair give trade visitors the opportunity to negotiate with business partners, partake in further education, participate at trade events and forge new business contacts.


You are a trade visitor if you:

  • are involved professionally in the development, production, marketing or communication of printed or electronic media or the arts
  • work in the education sector
  • are a student (all fields of study)

You can't get any closer to the pulse of the industry than at the Book Fair

Premium Membership

Use "My Book Fair" and its Premium-Services for Trade Visitors. For only 24 euros a year*, be a Premium Member, not just a trade visitor. You are given full access to all online catalogues incl. the contact data of potential business partners. Plus, you can send off requests for appointments ("My Appointments") and store your results from searches in the online catalogues as print-ready lists ("My Searches").
All these services can be used throughout the year. You may, for example, get into contact and arrange dates with business partners you wish to meet in Guadalajara, London or Leipzig.

With your personal Who's Who entry, you yourself can also be found and contacted by potential business partners.

You can purchase tickets before the Fair begins: either online or by fax. We offer a 25% discount off the price of trade visitor tickets if you buy them in advance. This applies to five-day tickets as well as one-day tickets. You will also avoid having to wait at the ticket office. Plus, your pre-purchased tickets may be used for use of free public transport (RMV) as soon as you arrive.

Advance ticket sale for the Frankfurt Book Fair 2012 will start in June.

Do you have a trade visitor ticket voucher?

Trade visitor ticket vouchers have to be exchanged for personalised trade visitor tickets prior to admission. Here is how to do it:

1. Register free of charge as a trade visitor
Exchange depends on you being registered online as a trade visitor.

2. Change your voucher
As a registered trade visitor, please log in to www.book-fair.com. Then simply use the entry code to change your voucher into a personalised entrance ticket.

3. Print out your ticket
Now print out this ticket from your computer and use it for admission to the Fair.
New registration as a trade visitor

Important Information: You can exchange the voucher online as well as at a terminal installed for this purpose at the Fair itself. We recommend saving time with an online exchange as described above. Please note the following when changing the voucher:

  • The name of the registered individual is on the entrance ticket. Subsequent changes to this are not possible.
  • Third parties for whom you wish to exchange trade visitor ticket vouchers must also be registered online as trade visitors.
  • Private visitor vouchers cannot be exchanged.

Do you need a visa?

A visa requirement applies for many countries’ nationals who wish to enter Germany.
An up-to-date list of all countries subject to visa regulations, as well as those which are not, can be obtained from the German Federal Foreign Office.

Be sure to take part in the most interesting seminars and conference and do some research in advance.
This year’s online events calendar includes more than 3000 events.
Type in a search word to browse the calendar. For instance, you can search by descriptive word, name or subject. Save then your own selection of events as a PDF and/or print it out.
